Church Hall - Before

The church hall had not been restored for over 10 years. It had a very dull, dirty appearance and most of the laquer had worn awayso the actual wood had become dirty. Around the edges were some loose parquet blocks, these were glued/repaired or replaced. There was also a stage which the church wanted dismantled.

Sanding Process

Our operatives carried out the sanding process using a Continuous Belt Sander, using a technique called 'Cross Sanding'. As the parquet was a Herringbone pattern it had to be sanded with the grain of the wood.

Final Sanding

We use a Trio machine for the final sanding of a Herringbone Parquet floor. Unlike the Continuous Belt Sanders used above, this machine has 3 small discs of the bottom, which sand in different directions.

Buffing

To further enhance the finish and smoothness of the floor, we use another machine called a Buffing Machine or Finishing Sander. We also use this between the coats to de nib any grain that has raised.

Lacquering

We apply Bona Traffic, a high traffic Satin lacquer using rollers to ensure a mirror like finish.

Finished Floor

The floor has been transformed from a dirty, lack lustre, tired floor into a beautifully restored wood floor, with colour and life.
